Flashorn, I am VERY interested in trying an experiment. If you are ready, closely imagine a tracking cookie and a browser hijacker, and then find a web page on the internet that tracks your web usage (loads tracking cookies), and then scan Sandboxie with antispyware software to see if anythign is detected. Should we play? Now, I am going to need your help because I don't know which sites on the internet provide the worst threat for Internet Explorer, so I think we need to work together.

OK, seriously, there used to be a member here that got me hooked on

Sandboxie and that's what he used to do. Do you remember " TeMerc".



I guess if you are ready to visit crack sites well, I can try and follow your lead.

There, are also the illegal download sites With cracks that could be of interest.

I don't think we are supposed to talk about these here though.

One thing I did try was to Sandbox uTorrent but, there were no connections

coming through so I just uninstalled and that was the end of my experiment.



So, what's on your mind? Too bad Piyush isn't available. This could be fun.

Hey techie!!
Just visited a site where it is known to have some malware.
I tried a download link and got welcomed by this:







Now, I was Sandboxed when I tried this. This is the first time I have seen this kind
of warning on a Bad Site.
Next I tried a movie download but, to my surprise No Warnings. I guess the Movie industry
has allot of catching up to do.
On the Bright side there were no baddies trailing me home. I'll have to try harder I guess.
Anything on your end?

I m not really sure what the AIM of the experiment exactly is ?
If it is to load sandbox folder with malware and then scan it from normal system to see if they are detected then yes. i believe it will be detected. sandboxie isn't encrypting anything, it just isolates a particular folder from the rest and emulates certain files and folders to this isolated folder. The things are fine till sandboxie is running and loaded with spyware.
Once the file gets into the sandboxie folder , it can be as harmful as the normal infections provided you manually navigate into the sandboxie folder and click on the malware file. The file can get out of the sandboxie folder , not through sandboxie running (as it needs confirmation) but easily and without any problems through normal explorer.

To summarize, the file is physically present on the disk in unencrypted form and should be detected in manual spyware scans.
