The September 2008 column by Preston Gralla recommends WeFi as a freeware hotspot finder. But I'm betting he didn't spend the time to read the EULA.
NOTE TO ALL USERS: The EULA in bold print says that the user acknowledges and allows that the software will reach into the users' wireless router and change the security settings to open the router to all users. While this is simply crazy, what's crazier is PC Magazine and Preston Gralla not mentioning this in the article. Fortunately SOME of us actually read what we approve.
(This reminds me of a user who called me for tech support after she installed a software program that hijacked her Outlook. In the EULA of that malware program it stated, also in bold print: 1 installing this software will cause the program to send emails to everyone in your Outlook contact folder, 2 if you DON'T WANT THIS SOFTWARE TO SEND EMAILS TO EVERY CONTACT IN YOUR OUTLOOK, DON'T INSTALL IT. Of course, she, like Mr. Gralla, didn't read the EULA.)
