I know this sounds crazy but a customer of mine has office 2007 and I have no idea how this happened but somehow the he changed the apperance of all his Office 2007 applications to look like Office 97 and we have tried everything to change it back. I have uninstalled it probably 10 times and have even tried 3rd party un-installers to remove all registry files and left over files that the windows un-installer leaves behind. But, every time we re-install Office 2007 it's apperance is back to a Office 97ish look. If anyone has any idea how to fix this i will forever be in your debtPosted Image

It appears that the Windows appearance or style has been changed. At first I thought the ribbon had gone, but no, the ribbon is still there, it's just very crude. Even the Office orb is there in the upper left hand corner.

I tried changing my theme to Classic, but it did not have the same effect.

The colors and resolution have been changed. The resolution is very grainy and the color is not normal. What are the colors and resolution in Control Panel?

I tried briefly to replicate the colors and was unable. You may want to look at display adapters and drivers. A driver problem or display adapter failure may result in this.

Hi Alphaworx and welcome to the PCWorld Communities. :D

In addition to what RGreen has suggested, you may want to try this:

- Uninstall Office 2007

- Use the third party uninstaller to remove all registry files

- Restart your computer in Safe Mode (If you are not sure how to access Safe Mode, follow the steps laid out within this {document:id=1093}.)

- Install Office 2007 in Safe Mode

From the graininess and crudeness of the image, it is almost as if it is in Safe Mode already.

Thanks for the ideas on how to fix this however I actually fixed it myself. The issue actually had nothing to do with any settings in the office applications or with the windows visual settings. I found out that it was actually caused my a mirrored driver in the video adapters under the device manager. It is there because of a VNC application on the system. Once I disabled that and rebooted office applications looked perfect. Thanks anyways for the ideas! I'll deffidently be using this forum more for answers to questions or problems that I come across.

Thank you for letting us know what was the actual cause. It was a driver issue after all.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but i seem to be having this same issue. and i am not nearly as cpu savvy as the OP, but im not a complete idiot, so im confused as to how you resolved this issue. i looked in my device manager but i didnt see any mirrors, but i may not even know what to be looking for, so i could use a lil help.

i just upgraded to windows7 and bought the full version of office through my school, and from day1 it looked just as described in the prior posts. i could get another screen shot if needed.

thanks in advance
