Skype typically does have competitive pricing compared to other VoIP services. If you compare other VoIP services, you will also see that they All charge higher rates to Mobile phones "in other countries" outside the USA and Canada. That is a common practice - and often unavoidable for most VoIP services. The reason being that most countries around the world charge higher rates to connect to mobile phones. So, it really does depend on what country you are calling the mobile phones in.

However, Skype is no longer the cheapest VoIP service around. In fact, they have been steadily raising their prices over the years. They are among the few VoIP services that charges a "Connection Fee". And, they have just raised their connection fees to many countries around the world.

It definitely pays shop around. Skype used to be cheap... but not so much anymore. They are riding on their popularity wave right now...
