spyware blaster PREVENTS spyware so it has no conflicts at all because it doesn't even do any scanning. You can run spybot and spywareblaster 100% ok

You should be fine running both programs together, but Spybot is TOTALLY out of date.

Hi Rub13,

You could try Webroot SpySweeper, it's a paid program. I've used it for over a year now and I really like it.

BTW, no offense but haven't you asked these questions before?

:D Hi :

IF you are willing to PAY for antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN protection, then select

"CounterSpy" from Sunbelt Software, NOT Webroot's "SpySweeper" .

Hey rub!!

You don't have to PAY for antispyware. There are many alternatives.

The same goes for antivirus. Like techie said , Spybot is not what it

used to be. Take a look at this site. You can then decide if you still

want to pay for PC protection.

Spysweeper is a resource hog so i don't really like it. The most lightweight antispyware would be superantisypware.

I never used it so i dont know. What i would use is lavasoft with superantispyware. I just googled spyware terminator and i got mixed reviews saying it doesnt detect much and its a rogue antispyware itself so i wouldnt use it.

Theres no free antispyware that comes with real time protection i believe. I wouldn't use it either because i dont like resources bogging down my system. Just scan once a week and you will be fine using a free one unless your always going to sites where they keylogg you or put a trojan in your system.

If you want realtime protection, you can give Spyware Terminator a try, but I do NOT recommend products from companies that I know NOTHING about. Spiritwind may be able to give you some advice.

You want a combination of real time and scanning protection.

My father once had more computer virus's and spyware etc on his computer (amazing it could run) then I have ever seen. Even though he had real time protection of both anti-virus and anti-spyware he never actually ran the scans!

The thing about free anti-spyware is that most of it you have to pay for real time protection and lilkid mentioned that it bogs down your computer. Most of them come with a free trial of real time protection. Which just basically means we'll try to intercept spyware that tries to get onto your computer before it gets there. For that the free versions I suggest are Super AntiSpyware and SpywareBlaster www.javacoolsoftware.com can both be found there. I think the updated version of Spybot Search and Destroy has some real time protection as well. They have worked out very well for me just make sure its all updated and enabled your also going to need some spyware scanners its good to have a few as long as they don't conflict (they normally tell you I haven't had an issue even though Lavasoft and Spybot say they might remove stuff accidnently from the others program.)

What I use
Spywareguard -Spywareblaster ( http://www.javacoolsoftware.com )
Spybot Search and Destroy www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
AVG AntiSpyware[http://free.avg.com/ww.download-avg-anti-spyware-and-anti-rootkit]
SuperAntiSpyware [http://www.superantispyware.com/]

I have lavasoft but honestly I don't use it that much because the new version sucks. Don't forget anti-virus and firewall and you'll be set if you keep everything updated and run a scan every so often. I also use ccleaner to clean out junk and WinPatrol to keep me alerted on stuff/further protect and configure my system. [http://www.winpatrol.com/]

Those who have the previous 7.5 version installed, still get the definition updates for it. It will be continued till the end of this year.

if you disable the tea timer, spybot is no longer protecting you in real time right?
