Hi
When I switch on my computer I am getting the below error.

A problem has deducted and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you're seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with manufacturer for driver updates. Try closing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendorfor any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, Press 58 to select advanced startup options, and then select Safe Mode.

Hey Ramji!!

Did you install SP3 in XP and if so, did you also install something via a USB port.

This rt2500usb.sys is a driver relating to either your router and from what I'm getting

It could be a Belkin or a Linksys. In any case this is what I found out. This entry

in your BSoD log shows up as a driver. If you did install SP3 ,then I think one of your

USB gadgets has a driver that does not agree with this SP3.

Can you confirm or deny.

Hi Flashorn
Thank you for your reply.
I didn't install SP3. I am having SP2 right now. Yes rt2500usb.sys is a driver related to my linksys network adapter. FYI I am using Linksys USB Wireless-G Network Adapter. When I unplug my Linksys wireless adapter I am not getting this error message. Later after I key in my user id and password I will re-connect back the USB network adapter. I wont get this error. But once I turn off or restart my pc I will get this error. But this is comes quite frequently now a days. How to solve this problem. Pls give me the solution.

Thanks
Ramji

Hey Ramji!!

The only advice I can give you right now is, can you find out if there is an up-date to your

driver. But, before you try and up-date, is there a CD that came with your adapter. You might

try to Uninstall and then re-install the software to see if this can cure your problem. If not , then

try and find a driver up-date. One more thing, how long has this been happening? Also, how long or

old is your network adapter? Could one of the

August MS up-date be causing your hardship. I guess this is all the help I can be right now Ramji.

try out my suggestions and see if these work, if not I will ask someone to help out.

I've seen this error before and it was a bad USB port that caused a short in the port connector. A uninstall/reinstall didn't cure the fault. Luckily the port connector was a front panel type and I was able to isolate it by pulling the connector off the motherboard. A little work with the connector to reposition the bent pins and I was able to get it working again. Hopefully this is the case and it isn't the connector that's part of the MOBO on the back panel.

My question to you is, why are you using a USB Network Adapter? Tell us what kind of computer you have and the distance from the Modem/Router. If it's a Desktop, Wired connection is always best. If the distance is too far then a Wireless PCI Card is the best connection. If you have a Laptop, then you might have a built in Wireless or you can connect with a Card too.
