Hi

I am trying to convert MP3 to .WAV files for email and I am using DBPoweramp Convertor to do this but the files by the time I add a fancy stationary are a bit large.

I am using Vista business 32bit.

Before I crashed my computer I had a codec installed that had a good sound and good compression rate now although I backed up I thought everything on my computer it didn't save the codec. Has anyone seen this in their music travels on the net. It was one that I could just click and it installed itself.

I have tried Divx and although it has wonderful compression the songs don't start playing on the opening of the email so I can't use that. I am forced at the moment to use the microsoft ADPCM codec the sound is to put it bluntly terrible if I am trying to keep the song as small as possible.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a good Codec it has to have a .wav at the end of the file.

Cheers

shirley.

I would use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) and download the LAME (Google it) library.

Hey Shirley!!

Welcome to PCWorld Community!

OK, first , if you want a codec to PLAY music on Vista with Windows Media Player then

I suggest you download and install the Vista Codec Pack from MajorGeeks .

Use the Last Download Link for FL |USA|. You wont need any other codecs for WMP.

To convert your MP3s to other formats or vise versa I use Switch from NCH Software .

If you want to e-mail a large file have you tried to compress it with WinRar first before e-mailing it. The software will install

a right click context menu where you can choose to .RAR and e-mail or just compress the file. The only draw back

is that the recipient has to have WinRar to de-compress the file. This is what it looks like on your context menu:

This is a Trial but you can keep using it as long as it is not for commercial use.

WinRar from download.com .

You can read about it from the link above.
