I'm so pleased to announce that rgreen4 and coastie65 are new member moderators for PC World!

They are getting up to speed on everything this week, and will be working with Krissy Saar (ksaar), who is taking over community management duties for PC World.

Please be supportive and patient as they learn this new role.

Thanks!

Hi Aurora, Thank You. Since mph has been away getting married, you have been the lone crusader in the community. I guess this means you now have a posse, as soon as the posse gets things figured out. :D coastie

Congrats guys. I look forward to some entertaining views and a bit of the consistant style you have exhibited already. I will also be ever vigilant to guard myself lest the back of the hand meet the side of the head.

MJD - you are unlikely to feel that as you seem to always comply with the community standard's.

As an Aviator, I know enough to leave the boat handling to the one that is better versed in that area - you. If we ever have need to use a fixed wing aircraft, then I'll handle it.

Actually, my first choice was Aerographer's Mate, but couldn't get the school and the rate was pretty much locked up and it wouldn't have done any good to strike. I ended up in EN school. My Dad and both Brothers were Navy and all were Aviation Machinist Mates. My brothers were Jet and My Dad was recip ( WWII and beyond). My Dad made Chief in 4 years and had wings ( air crew I guess, as I think he flew on check flights). I don't think we'll need boats around here tomorrow though. After that long haul aboard ship from New York through the Panama Canal and on west to Vietnam by way of Pearl Harbor and Subic Bay and back, Flying was awful appealing.

Hopefully we won't need either boats or aircraft in this, just common sense.

Well. common sense doesn't seem to be the norm these days, but I think a good common anchor has been chosen. One to port and one to starboard. Schools, A class types, hard to come by unless you were willing to give up a little extra time. I got the ET scholl, but really didn't need it. Skipped the first thirty weeks and went to the equipment specific parts. Even got to teach a few two week segments of the classes until a spot opened for the equipment classes. I entered with an associates degree so got sent to the jungle for six months before I got my school orders. They called the guys in the fleet "presto thirds", but I was E-4 three weeks after boot camp, a week after the survival school at Imperial Beach in San Diego. What a miserable way to start an enlistment. I don't think I've ever been so wet. 105 Straight days of rain in the jungle. The rest was a breeze by comparision.

Hi mjd, Yeah, Those ET's moved up fast in the CG as well CPO in under four. We had a slick sleeve (no hash marks) Chief ET that they wouldn't let in the CPO club until after he got a Hash mark on his sleeve. I remember when he shipped over, he got one heck of a bonus. coastie
