I have a small mix of pc's at home; a desktop running Vista and two XP laptops with still one running SP1. That's not that important. I'm currently running Avanquest Systemsuite 8. I've used it for the past few years and been satisfied but with this past release I've had a terrible time with support.

I'm looking for other options. I generally like the suites so I don't have to maintain various products and be concerned about conflicts amongst them. I know about Norton. Is the my best option? I also want the product to be legally able to run on the three machines.

Looking forward to some choices.

Tsys001 - I have moved your question to the Privacy and Security headding as that is the area that fits best with your question.

Stand by for a variety of opinions, but you will find in this group that Norton's and McAfee's suites don't fare too well. Here is a link to a [security|d-1141] document by a member that most of us call with security questions that will explain the process somewhat. I run Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware and it is no problem to maintain. Avast automatically updates and does it's work in the background and SuperAntiSpyware is set automatically update and scan on every boot. Both are free to non-commercial users.

I honestly hadn't heard of Avanquest, and from your question I didn't realize that it was a Security Suite you were looking for.

Not too many people in this Community like Norton, because it's somewhar ineffective as well as a huge resource hog.

One excellent Suite is Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 I think it covers everything you're looking for, and it doesn't cost a lot of money. I personally have their AntiVirus program and I've been very happy with it.

For future reference, please be as specific as possible and give as much info as possible when posting your question. That way, our members have a greater idea what you are looking for.

Ok, since you don't want to bother yourself with several antimalware products

I will give you three suites to look at. Now , you should know that suites are

heavy on your PC's resources. I'm not trying to convince you or to make you change

your mind but, to simply point out that individual programs are less of a burden on

your PC than a suite would be. It is also possible to protect your PC adequately with

Free programs but, this would entail your involvement in making sure that some

of those programs be up-dated on a daily basis.

With no further comments I will now give you the addresses of the better suites:

Avira AntiVir Premium Security Suite .



BitDefender Internet Security Suite 2009 .



ESET Smart Security-NOD32 .



As complete suites go , I think any of those should satisfy your needs. You will have to decide

which one meets your price range.

If I'm correct, Avanquest Suite also offers Windows Registry Optimization and Fix it tools; however, You do not need to clean your registry to improve system performance . Instead, use CCleaner and run it on a weekly basis. Every thing else relies upon your Antivirus Scanners, Malware Scanners, and Firewall , along with a montly defragmentation of all hard drives.

Actually the Avanquest SystemSuite I'm using was a a replacement for Norton Systemworks which is a general utility suite. Besides vitus protection it analyzes registry errors, various file cleanups, etc. Nore than just Privacy and Security

Thanks for the information. I've heard of BitDefender and I'll check it out.

Perhaps I've been taking the easy road with these suites. It is very convenient to go to one site and get the updates. I don't have a problem bouncing around to get updates for this or that. I do tend to overanalyze and if I go with the separate though free (or lower cost) options there are sooo many more product to research.
