It's my pleasure to introduce everyone to Kristina Saar {user:username=ksaar}. She will be the community coordinator for the PC World forums. We are working together this week as I train her up on the workings of the community, and she takes over for me next week, as my last day is this coming Friday 9/12/08.
Please welcome her, and be kind and helpful to her as she gets her bearings and gets to know all of you.

Hi Everyone!
I'm so glad to be on board. Thank you for welcoming me! I look fwd to working with you all and continuing to make the Community an awesome place. Kellie has been training me -- thank you, Kellie! I've worked for PC World since 2000 and I love it here. I'm the research editor and now also the online community coordinator. Kellie will really be missed by our Staff. I look forward to talking with you all and seeing all the messages and contributions.
Thanks!
Kristina

Hi SpiritWind,
You asked about the different functions between the titles Community Manager and Community Coordinator. As CM, Kellie handled all PCW and Macworld Communites and I will just be dealing with PCW's Communtiy. I'm titled a coordiantor at this point. I'm also the research editor here in the reviews dept, so my job is a hybrid of sorts. Hope that helps! Talk to you again. :)

she takes over for me next week
Hi Kellie
In your "say goodbye thread" you said you were being laid off.
Being laid off means that the job no longer exists, or that there is not enough work for the job to continue.
Also being laid off means that should the job or similar job be become available again the person who was laid off is first in line to be hired to that position.
If a person was laid off there would be no one taking over for that person in the near future.
So either you were not laid off, or PC world is in violation of the Labor Code.

Hi snorg, thanks for your concern.
As Kristina said earlier, my position is in fact being eliminated. My job duties are being spread out among several people here at PC World. My position no longer exists and they are not hiring someone to do the same role that I am leaving.
My role was to be in charge of both the PC World & Macworld forums and everything that entails -- hands-on management (deleting spam, banning users, etc) and more strategic things such as selecting and working with our platform vendor, conceiving and executing strategy around our community offerings, etc. Kristina is taking over the management of the PC World community, but someone else is taking over Macworld and the strategic aspects are going to several other people.
I hope that clears things up for you.

hello kristina,
just when you think you have more work to do? guess what? not here. i've been a member since sept. 2006 and i can tell you that there are a small group of us that post quite regularly (except i've been slacking lately, been busy at work). i think you may have your work cut in half in respect to other folks posting and rules/regulations since we are more familiar with relevancy and so forth. example: post a topic where it should go, telling posters to note their pc specs for better answers, etc.
anyway, welcome aboard and i hope we get to know each in a more personal level if you know what i mean ---------->pffffffff...hahaha...just messing, gotta scare the newcomer...ahahaaahaaa!
ok stalk you later! :-)
