Wow! The USCG finally gets a new class of cutters that are 2' longer than Paul Allen's Yacht. But probably still not bar - what a bummer.

And she's a fine looking vessel. Just looked it up, she's 40' longer than the WWII Fletcher class Destroyers.

There are five more on the way. I remember when the 378's came out. I went aboard one and was amazed. The crew's quarters were like those of the Officers' quarters on our ship. The only difference was that the crew had six to a stateroom instead of the two that the Officers had. Of course onMt ship the Enlisted didn't have that, we had a berthing area, with the racks stacked three high. You could cram a lot of bodies in small area. At 311' we had a complement of 160 officers and men. We were 40' at the beam. Our ( Engineering) berthing was just aft of the 5" mount. The 1st Class berthing was all the way aft just forward of the after sterring room so they caught it when the screws cleared the water and nearly shake them out of their racks. Being up there were we were at was only marginally better as we didn't get shaken. Our head was just aft of the windless room and forward of the 5" mount. That presented its own adventures. coastie
