bhjules,
The aim of the article was to point out that in addition to the items that get all the attention, there are some worthy alternatives out there. It does not necessarily mean that one is better than the other. Suggesting an alternative - in this case by Microsoft - does not put one "on the take".
Apple is not the only game in town, you know.

Right on about the Touch. My goodness the newest release was slobbered over even as they
were making the introduction. Early reviews didn't even mention what the sound. Peculiar when
a music playing device is reviewed and sound is an afterthought. Or when the Iphone is lauded as
greatest ever except is doesn't do phone calls very well.

The whole point of the article was to light some fires and get people talking and see what you think. Glad to see you guys are chiming in.
Thanks for the kind words -- and the accusations of being on the take from MS. Trust me, if I was for sale, nobody bothers hitting my asking price.
As for some of these categories, I'm not saying a product is bad (ie, the Wii) I'm just saying that there's a lot of cases where people are overlooking flaws just because of the hype.
Anyhow, sorry to interrupt....keep at it....and thanks for reading ;p

I've been using the iphone 3G for a while now. I was one of those guys who was convinced that it was a cool device. Now I say it is an over rated product. I thought the internet experience will blow me away. Yes the touch screen is good when surfing but I couldn't watch the news on the net because they are all flash videos. Now I have to go back to my old nokia n82 just to do that. Now I realize that the only thing I bought with the iphone is the touch screen. I feel I've been had! There are so many apple fan boys out there.

Vista is great people like backpack must not be smart enough to realize it though!!!
Or you've been brainwashed by M$ to think that way of Vista...
Vista is the most unstable, almost useless OS I've ever used. Yes, I can get more done with DOS.

This is awesome! Music is important to have at all times! That's why I like the Motorokr this phone has crystal talk technology, a Mode-shift feature, full HTML browser, and plays music too. I'm big on the psp and it does way more than the wii but the psp doesn't get hot girls in their undies doing the hoola hoop :(

I am glad to see that Multiply.com is being recognized as far superior to what Facebook can only attempt to be. Users at Multiply have known this all along.
Privacy settings, content control with the new media locker, and the new auto uploader available to all users take all the work out of social networking so you can concentrate on your relationships, blogging and sharing.

Good article, even if I disagreed with your last one (streaming vs blu-ray).
I agree, the hype around some of the products totally shadows the flaws or shortcomings. I use and like a lot of Google products/betas, but agree that Google Apps is totally overrated.
