Hello,
I am trying to figure out a way to record my shows on to dvd. I was wondering if I can record my shows that are on my Tivo DSR708 with Directv to a dvd? If so, what type of dvd recorder can I use to burn my shows?
Or is ther an option this I can use with my computer? I just bought Pinnacle's PCTV HD card. Will that be the best option? I believe you just connect the cable to th card.
Thanks

Theoretically, TiVo's have the ability to "dupe" shows saved on the DVR to your computer and then you can use a few commecial burning products to burn those shows to DVD. To do it, you need the TiVo Desktop software and then Roxio's Easy Media Creator. The only potential wrinkle is the fact that it is a TiVo with DirectTV...I don't know if this feature is only supported by the "standard" retail purchased TiVo's or if your DirectTV TiVo will support it as well.
If that does not work, then you can use some sort of video input device (the Pinnacle card might work) to allow the streaming input of a TV video source that can then be recorded by a video editting program. This process would "get the show into the computer" in a format that a video editor and then a DVD authoring program could use. The downside is that it is usually a 1:1 process to record...i.e. you actually "play" the show on the TV and "record" it on the computer as it is playing. It is very doable, but it is a pain in that it takes so long (it is NOT merely a process of "copying" over the show from one device to the other like copying a file).
