Seee? Now you can't say I never do anything you suggest... LOL :p

I was trying to get to this thread all afternoon but kept getting distracted by other stuff.

The funny thing is that after I installed it and signed in to PCW again, the saluting soldier/emo on my prior post disappeared! So I right-clicked on the IE7Pro icon, and then clicked on Don't Filter This Site and poof! the soldier was back again!!!

Okay, there was something in one of the installation windows that said something about using IE7Pro as browser, or home page...? Can't seem to remember the words now and I forgot to take a Snip of it. Do you know what that's all about?

Also, how do I know the ads are being blocked by IE7Pro AdBlocker or by my Ad Muncher?

Hey Adama!!

If you want to verify that IE7Pro is doing it's job well,

you will have to uninstall Ad Muncher otherwise you

really can't tell which one is doing the blocking. As for the

Home Page thing, it was asking if you would like to change your

Home Page to the IE7Pro Home Page. If you did nothing

during installation then, it did not change anything.

The Download Manager in IE7Pro will take over the IE7's

download manager if you Enable that option. I like this option

but, it will not save your downloads to the same place that

you configured IE7 to save to. So , if I were you I would not

check mark this option until you have had the chance to configure

IE7Pro's Download Manager.

Another little tidbit I would like to share is, in SpywareBlaster you have the

option of blocking the Flash Player. Meaning that you can have SpywareBlaster

disable the Flash Player on your Notebook. This is totally reversible.

If you don't already have SpywareBlaster , I would Highly recommend that you

install this little app. It will , for $9.95 a year , Update it's definitions on a daily

basis in the background and you will have extra security for all of your browsers.

I have just renewed my subscription on all of our notebooks and PC for the second

year. OR you can install and Not pay but, you will have to update the definitions manually.

It is very easy to configure and has other tools to help out. If you would like more info.

click on blue link or just ask. SpywareBlaster by Javacool .

Hi Flash,

Yeah, I kind of figured that out on my own. Ad Muncher's trial version expires tomorrow, so I'm just going to let it run out. That way, I'll have something else to replace it.

The reason I selected Download Manager is because your Snip showed it as checked. But, after reading the email notif for your post, I went ahead and unselected it.

Thanks for the link to SpywareBlaster, I saved it to my faves to check it out later. I'm not quite sure I want to disable my laptop's Flash Player, because sometimes I like to watch TV episodes, movies, etc.

Last night I wanted to watch the last Heroes ep on NBC (which I missed on Monday night,) but it wouldn't start. So I clicked on IE7 Pro and selected Don't Filter This Site and then I was able to watch it.

YAY, so far so good! :) :x

Hi again, Flashorn!

Well, I finally uninstalled Ad Muncher last night, Nov. 5. And now the Yahoo ads are back!

So, it looks like IE7 Pro is not doing its job, or maybe I don't have it configured correctly to block them. This is a snip I took of my email account:

Hey sweetie!!

I'm glad you finally got it set up. Sorry I was a bit late but, I couldn't get in to the forum and then

I had to take care of personal stuff.

So, the link that Spirit provided did the trick? What was the settings that were missing?

You should let us in on your fix so the next time we could recommend your config. How

do you like it compared to Ad-Muncher (money aside)?

Hi dahling!

Well, SW was kind enough to provide a link to IE7 Pro forum and I had to join, then I went hunting for the answer.

What I found was an ongoing thread about the Filter List. So I read through it carefully and found a couple of answers that I thought might help me. A member by the name of Alsiladka, answering another member's question wrote: "Check the white rules of both the custom list as well as the default list. Delete the entry from both the lists."

And then ellis123, a Senior Member there also wrote "The white list is the do not filter list. Anyting on the list will not be filtered, no matter how many matches are on the block list. It's useful for specific things (like images that you don't want blocked) or sites that become destroyed due to too much filtering."

There were no further instructions, so I set out on my own to see if what they said was correct.

First of all, their terminology and what I have on my IE7 Pro menu are a little bit different so I had to make sure I was going to do the right thing, so I checked my IE7 Pro a couple of times and decided to give a try.

First I right clicked on the IE7 Pro icon which opened the menu, then I clicked on Preferences. That took me to the IE7 Pro window where everything is listed.

I took a Snip to show you guys:

Posted Image

Then I clicked on Ad Blocker which appears on the list, on the left side, and this is the menu that I got.

You can see there is a bar that says URL White Filter. When you click on the tiny arrow it gives you a menu with about 4 different options, the 2nd one is URL Block Filter. If the name yahoo . com (or whatever .com ) shows up on BOTH lists, then the ads are not being blocked.

So when I saw that my yahoo account was on the URL White Filter list I highlighted it and then clicked on Delete. Then I went to the URL Block List and I deleted it from there too.

Voila!!! The Yahoo ads were NICE and B L O C K E D!!! YAY.... !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/

:p :^0
