See my signature for stats. Is a 750W thermaltake power supply enough?

thanks. the extreme outervision calculator seems to underestimate and the newegg calculator seems to overestimate.

Hey pinkston, I would say a bigger PSU if you were going to use a Cross Fire Configuration and at least 850w and preferably 1000w to be on the safe side. To be honest, I prefer an Nvidia Card with an Intel Processor, but that card should be OK. coastie

yeah, i want crossfire later. btw, i also prefer nvidia, but since i want DDR3, i would have to dish out $300 for a 790i mobo. can i get by with 750W and crossfire?

If it is a budget thing, I would go with 800w as that shouldn'y be much more than the 750w. coastie

it is a budget thing. im keeping the price under $1000. I know that the prices are similar individually, but im saving a whole lot with combo deals. The 750W comes with the HD 4870

That would probably be my choice. You know what your budget can handle, so you can make a choice accordingly. With a single card, the 750w would be plenty, but with a Crossfire Configuration, you would be better suited to a larger PSU to be sure you had plenty of headroom. By the specs, it looks that it will be a pretty nice rig and should get the job done. coastie

I am not all that familiar with Raidmax. That having been said, I have not seen anything negative about it either, so it should be alright. coastie

I've noticed and one reason i would be hesitant Personally of buying one. As I said, I haven't really seen any negative comments on them. I got this 500w Antec for less than $70 and I knew they were good. Once you jump to 650w to 800w the price does tend to go up. coastie

In answer to your question, NO. You may want to check these out. www.newegg.com/Store/Brand.aspx?Brand=1516&name=Antec coastie

i know antec is about the best brand you can buy, but they are a bit more expensive. Thermaltake is good, right? They have many good reviews

Yep, Thermaltake seems to be pretty good. We have a few members that use them. I just put those Antec up so you could have look. You know what your budget is. It is good that you are checking out the reviews from those who are using then as that is the key to a good purchase. coastie

I have seen cases with space for two power supplies in the past. They would mount on their sides on the bottom of the case each with separate power cords. While there are some listed on Newegg with redundant power supplies, they use special non-standard PSU's and are not meant to be added.

:D OK, I had never seen any of those things. I have enough wires with one, i certainly don't need two. :p coastie

Yeah, I think it was a bit of overkill. I looked for a little while on Newegg while posting my response, but didn't find it.
