Any recos for a software program that will let me open an MP3, identify
the vocals and then strip the vocals out to make it an instrumental?
Free great but willing to pay if needed.
Thanks!

My sound driver settings have a karaoke settings that lets me do something similar. Sometimes it does well, sometimes its partial filtering. Its realtek HD audio. You may check if there is something similar in your setup.

You may also try this. But this will also not work in all cases.I m not sure but i don't think there is any software that will do this in all cases with 100% accuracy.

Jbob,

Probably the best program for that purpose is "GoldWave". I've been using it for several years now for all types of music file manipulation (including karaoke for a friend) and have found it to be the best by far. I just updated the program from www.goldwave.com to Ver. 5.25. It sells for $45 but is worth every penny if you do a lot of sound file work. They have a demo program that is fully functional with some small restrictions. Their support is excellent and I wouldn't use anything else.

Try it out. I think you'll like it. Skip
