In the control panel under the Display tab there used to be 5 sub tabs of Themes, Backgrounds, Screen Savers, Appearance and Settings. Recently the background and screen savers tabs have disappeared and can't be located. Any suggestions. My Norton antiVirus is not locating a problem?

IF the missing tabs are caused by a malware "infection", it would be rare IF Norton was to
"Detect" it, since there are better programs available, some of them FREE . Would
recommend you start by running "Full Scan(s)" of a fully updated FREE Version of the
following : 1) "SUPERAntiSpyware" from www.superantispyware.com/ ;
2) "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" from [http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php] . Neither
program should cause any problems with your currently installed Norton antivirus . IF
either program detects anything other than "Adware/Tracking Cookies", it would be wise
to Post its Log here so we could see what was detected .

Hi Dave, As spiritwind suggested, you have been infected. I just went through the same thing and it actually Hijacked my wallpaper to boot. As was suggested, Run both utilities and you should get that stuff back. I got it back after running the Malwarebytes utility. coastie65

I used the 1st product you suggested and although it found problems it didn't help. When Coastie65 posted about the Malware program again I tried it and it found 40 problems, including the Display settings.
I wanted to THANK you both for your assistance. I obviously like these programs and will be keeping them. I'm not so sure about Norton for whom I am disappointed for the money it cost.
