I am not sure how well this one works, but one that is VERY powerful is OpenDNS
http://www.opendns.com
I have been using it for quite some time and it works very well. It is highly configurable once you create an account with them. You can use their DNS servers w/o making an account, but it will only filter phising sites by default.
If you create an account with them, you can configure 30 some odd categories of what you do and do not want filtered. You can add sites to block all the time and add sites that you never want blocked. You also can turn on stats of what is going on with your network -- how many unique IP hits, what sites are being hit, what sites are being blocked and even metrics on internet usage by time of day.
Very cool and very free.

ScrubIT appears to be a well done basic filtered DNS service for residential and SOHO users who need a straightforward filtering solution.
OpenDNS offers a simlar service and include some configuration capability and other additional services. It's a good choice for users and sysadms with more advanced needs.
Both are recommended., always nice to have a choice of free services.
