Heilsa!
I am in kind of a rush here and need to know as I am splitting an extra internal HDD D: into two different partitions. Do I make them primary or extended as C: has the OS on it? Can anyone give me a rather quick answer. I went ahead and made the first half a prmary and started the format into NTFS but I can remove it again if need be. Thank you!

Primary partitions are needed for installing OS to the partition. Since the 2nd drive in extra internal HDD , it is not necessary to create primary partitions on this drive. You may , you may not create primary partitions here.
Windows partitioning allows for a max. of 4 partitions. So if you need more than 4 partitions , then you need extended partitions to accommodate logical drives.
Best to start with a primary and an extended partition. So if you need any more partitions in future , there is room and if the initial partition is to kept for an OS install, it can be done.

First, let me say thank you for your quick responses. I may have not explained things like I should have. But my making D: the extra HDD that he put in awhile back that is 200GBs into two partitians and making them both primary partitians was correct or will work from what I am understanding from your posts. I just need to make sure that they the two HDD made out of D: are not active, as C: has the OS on it. Am I correct in my understanding?
I am understanding that the "Extended" partitians are really to be used if you want to add more than the allotted by windows 4 partitians. Is that correct?
