IMHO, there is no all-in-one fixit software for Windows 'maintenance'. I am very careful about what I use, and this is my list:

(1) AVG 8 for anti-virus. Uses fewer resources than McAffee or Norton and has a better detection rate. Kaspersky is very good too.

(2) Spybot S&D for anti-malware/spyware scans.

(3) Ccleaner for disk cleanup on XP. I use the built-in disk cleanup utility for Vista because ccleaner and my Vista don't see eye to eye lol.

(4) Diskeeper 2008 pro for defragmentation. It's fast, highly effective and works automatically/invisibly in the background. After installation, I've never had to defrag any of my drives manually! It's not free, but you can get trial version from the Diskeeper site.

(5) Windirstat for checking the space consumption on the drives. Helps to identify what files are hogging space.

That's all. No registry cleaners or optimizers for me.
The above list has stood me in good stead, my systems run as they were new even after months of heavy usage. :)

"ATF Cleaner", developed by antispyware Expert "ATribune" and available on his Site at

www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25

is the odds-on favorite of "Malware Removal Specialists" .

There is no ONE best virus/spyware cleaning software. The recomended list is the following: Kaspersky Internet Security (free 90 days trial), Ad-Aware (free not active protection pack) and Spyware Doctor (not sure). I am a Geek Squad agent and do this stuff every day, several times a day. Believe me!
