I've seen several articles about XP's "Safely Remove Hardware" warning, and it seems like a reasonable message to display when a flash drive is plugged in. However, I only have my printer plugged in to my only used USB port; I don't want to remove it or turn it off, for that matter. How can I make Windows XP recognize my printer and stop showing the warning?

i'd say safe to remove is more of a notification icon rather than a warning. I'll warn you if it's not safe to remove though.
can your printer read memory cards? If so, that's why you see the safe to remove icon.
have you installed the proper driver for the printer?

Hi kev. I'd help If you post your printer manufacture.....We might help you to find the driver for your printer....If there is one.
(I just did with my canon...They finally came up with Vista printer drive.)
Maybe you juct RIGHT click on the icon and Exit it out...from the tast bar....Please ,post if it works....
