ANTI SPAM SOFTWARE

I heard of some anti-spam software that returns all mail, except for e-mail received from senders on an pre-approved list, back to the sender, with a note saying to resumit the e-mail and it will the get through to the receipient. After re-submitting, the senders name is added to the pre-approved list.
Does anyone know where I can get software that will do this? I'm getting about 700 spam a day, and some good stuff always slips into my spam folder, so I have to look through everthing. If the amount of spam I get keeps increasing as it has been, by 2010 I will be nothing but screening e-mail from the moment I wake until I go to sleep!
Thank you,
Kevan

Hi NCC1701, and welcome to PCWorld Community.
Oh my goodness! :0 You're getting about 700 spams a day??? Who is your email provider?
Yahoo has a pretty good spam filtering device. So if you're not with Yahoo you might want to switch to them.

I agree with the others. If you are getting that much in your "in box" it is time to switch your e-mail host. I would also go into Internet iptioms and set your privacy setting to the high side of medium (not Med. High, as it is too high and will block you from sites, this one included). In my public box (earthlink) I might get about 70-75 over a three day period in my suspect box, with a good one from time to time as it wasn't in my contact list. You should be clearing your cookies on a regular basis as well (dailey). coastie65

I agree with Coastie, resetting your privacy settings might be a good start.
Also, I think it also depends on what websites you usually visit and where you click, because even sliding your mouse over an advertisement can give them your information... causing spam.
I have Yahoo as my email account. And I think the most spam I have received in my spam folder is 8 (+/-) But I'm careful where I surf and avoid going over any ads.
Another thing that's been helping me tremendously lately to avoid ads is IE7 Pro You might want to check out that link, and also my thread Those are good places to start. IMO

Kevan,
Just right now I found this website. I think they may have some of the stuff you're looking for there.
Check it out and let us know your findings.

Dear Coastie:
Thank you for your suggestions. I already do and have set-up most if not all of what you have suggested. The problem is my office hosts its own internet site, and my e-mail address is listed on our web page.
I am going to try one of the spam filters suggested by another user.
Again, thank you for responding to my questions.

Hi again, Kevan,
I just found this information for you: This is from Brian Livingston, an amazing Windows expert. I have one of his books and here's one that talks about Spam, and how to spam-proof your email.
You can also subscribe to his free Newsletter Windows Secrets I think you'll find it really informative.
I hope you find it helpful.
