Have you checked stickers on your computer and other documentation that came with it? Most of the time there may be a sticker somewhere on your computer, or on the book that came with it, or the cd rom disc containing your windows xp. Have you tried perhaps a restore feature that doesn't require a instillation number? When you boot up look for something that says to system restore press f5 or something like that. Start that to restore from a partition.
"Finding" another one without paying for a copy is illegal and cannot be discussed on this forum, but there are legal things we can help you with. If you can't find it and do not have a restore partition what is your issue that requires you to do a fresh install? Perhaps there is a way to fix it. If none of those options work for you, you can consider to install Ubuntu it is free. If you can download it from a friends computer and burn it or pay a shipping fee to get a disc sent to you. www.ubuntu.com/

Hi Dreamweever and welcome to the forum. If you have a desktop, you will find a sticker on the back with a Microsoft name on it. Your key would be on it. If it is a Lap Top, it will most likely be on the bottom. The sticker will have Cerificate of Authenticity on it, with a bunch of letters and numbers. As Aurora suggested you may wish to try a system restorefirst to see if they helps whatever issues you are having. coastie65

If your system is still running , then you may try out this - http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ . The freeware utility will retrieve the product key from your PC and you can re-install. But do it on your own risk and do a bit of reading at their website.
mods - the above solutions seems well within the community standards IMO . The product just retrieves the hidden key that the product is registered with at the time of installation. Nothing illegal. If however , you guys feel it should not be here , then kindly remove it. Thanx.

Keyfinder is fine. A lot of security programs object to it because, in theory, someone else with physical access to your PC could use it to steal your key--a pretty far-fetched concern, IMHO.
But if you put it on your PC yourself and use it, no harm done.

I just ran a Belac Advisor report a couple days ago for other reasons, I forgot , all those keys sure enough to come out in the report. This Belac Advisor is a pretty neat program, I have used it for a while. I think everyone should at least take a look at it. Maybe safer than downloading a program that may be harmful.
