OK .. so with the new macbooks coming with a fair bit of software .. i was trying to look for info on the Mail and ical programs. I have about 400 contacts in outlook and was wonding if they will be able to be transfered over . if not i have no issues with re typing .. (will help me get used to the keyboard ..grin)
But no one seemed to have a lot of info on the 2 programs, no screen shots, nothing. I currently use a Gmail account with MS 2007 outlook, I do use the calender section a lot. I have a HP ipac and that is my diary, they sync they tell me where i need to be and when .. But with the Macbook i will look to get an Ipod touch (as current Ipod is well stuffed) - which i am told will do that??? (confirm - i dont know anyone with one).. Would love an Iphone .. but the dont work in my area .. tsk TELSTRA and APPLE for not creating a rural handset .. I thought i used mobile word a lot .. I dont .. jsut notes and calendar and contacts.
I know that a lot of people go Your buying a MACbook .. for what you do?? and i go Yes i will be (when the funds come available) unless i come up aginst some MAJOR issues. I use email, calender, tasks, word, excel and play WoW on occasion .. this is the extent of my use .. oh and play some music .. (already have Itunes) - they say buy a dell cheaper, and will do what i need .. I KNOW!! but i want an APPLE ( i was hooked from an Apple 2gs when i was in grade 4).. so i will save .. and when current PC is needign renovations .. will get mackbook for me and Imac for house and hubby ..
Back to my story and question ..
i need to know if there is any more detailed info on the mac programs .. not much on the mac website .. and nothing really about iCal or Mail ..
Hope you can help!
Tammy

Sorry I did not respond earlier, but I have been "offline" dealing with the "real world" for a while.
The short answer is that you will be able to get your contacts from Micro$oft Outlook to Address Book (that is the program in the Mac OS that handles contact lists and information) on a MacBook or MacBook Pro. Micro$oft does a good job of making it kind of difficult, but it can be done. There are several ways to do...which way is best for you will depend on the specifics of what have installed on your computer. Thus, I won't go into those way now...but if/when you get a MacBook/MacBook Pro and are ready to transfer over the contacts, if you have not figured it out, come back and post and again...and I will be glad to try to walk you through the process.
And if you want screen shots/infomation on things like Address Book, Mail, iCal, then there are PLENTY of things out there. Here is a Mac 101 for Address Book. Here is a Mac 101 for iCal. And here is a Mac 101 for Mail. All contain screenshots and some "tutorial" information. And they are just the tip of the "iceberg" in term of information out there.
