Well ......NOT so clear Sir......
When downloading......you have (Most) 2 choices.....either SAVE......RUN ( Run means Install and Exes..)
If I choose SAVE.....(To desktop..etc..) Nothing will happen after it finishes...but a File sitting there on the desktop..or some where that I picked.
Until I Double click and Install it.... ( Am I right so far...,,?) Nothing wrong with doing this...(Just take longer time)
If I choose RUN .....During the installation, WDs will ask where do I want to install..? ( Even If, It 's already picked out the RIGHT location for it) ...Why..ASK...?
If I keep hitting NEXT...to the END....99% It 'll succeed and complete the Installion. ....If I pick DESKTOP (During installion) then I'm Screwed..? !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/

Hi Flashorn,
Yes, I agree with everything you said and I understand what you're talking about.
I have the habit of downloading things to my Desktop because that's where I download my brushes, fonts, and other things that I need to make my graphics.
I just thought that downloading Adobe to the Desktop would be a no-brainer. So from now on, I'll know better.
Thanks again, m'dear. :)

Hey Tech!!
OK, first of all I wasn't explaining so much where to download
but, where to "Install" a program that you have downloaded. Yes,
Tech , you can use the Save or Run when you download a program
But, this was not my intention to explain which one to choose.
I Always choose to Save my downloads. IF you have other programs
running in the background and you choose to Run instead of Save
then you are looking for trouble. Some of the files that are Busy running the
other programs might be needed for the installation of the program
that you want to install by choosing to Run. Then you get a Failed Installation.

Hey sweetie!!
Sorry I haven't been around too much but, as I mentioned before , we are in
the midst of negotiation for the next three days. It is not going well and I think
that by Wednesday , the employees will be on strike. This might be Long.
OK, now , to know where to install, actually the info. on the site of the program
should tell you where to install. I have installed or re-installed WinBubble to show
you exactly what to expect when a program is not installed in the right location.
I have downloaded the latest version of WinBubble to my Documents Folder.
Since I use WinRar ( same as WinZip ) when I double click on the WinBubble Rar,
WinRar Archiver opens and from there I can scan the file for infections or test the Rar
for mistakes or corrupted files and then to extract the files to another location on my PC.
So, with all of this in mind I proceeded to extract the installer for WinBubble to the "Desktop"

When I double click on the WinBubble installer , This is what Windows Explorer tells me:

So, this is a very clear message that the location for WinBubble ( Desktop ) is not the right
one. I have to choose to extract WinBubble to the C: drive like Windows Explorer suggests
otherwise the changes I want to make to Vista will not occur . The next step is to Delete
from the desktop and extract to a new location.:
1!
As you can see I chose to extract the files to the Local Disk (C:)
Now the installer will install WinBubble on the C: drive and NOT in Program files.

This is the V istaStartMenu. I will put the other one you people are used to see:

As you can see, WinBubble is not the only program that wants it's own place on the C: Drive.
Once I finished with the customization of Vista this is the pop-up I got.

Now everyone is happy in their respective folders.
Is this what you were asking for Adama?
I haven't started the thread on JavaRa yet but, will do it when time permits.
If you do not understand one or more of the explanations , I'll be back tonight.

Hey sweetie!!
These icons are from the "Skin" from Alienware. They have different ones for XP but, only one for Vista.
If you want to check it out I'll post the address. What this does is that it completely transforms Vista.
All of your Icons and page contours and also start menu plus all folders are customized by this Skin.
The best part is that all of their Skins are FREE. All you have to do is enter an e-mail address and
you can download the "AlienGuise Theme Manager" for FREE. I'll try and post an image.
OK, this is the Theme Manager where you can choose which Theme you want to apply. The Theme Manager
will transform your Vista Completely. If you don't like what you see , all you have to do is , choose the Vista theme
again and in a second everything is back to normal. For Vista we only have the choice of two Skins but, in XP there
are about Five to choose from. Here are the ones for Vista.

These are the ones you choose between . Mine is the first one , Alienware Invader.

This is the original Vista!

This is the Green Vista. Notice how everything is different , from the Start Button to the Folders.
You also get the background image.
This is the one I have. As you can see all of Vista is customized. I also have altered
some of the Icons with WinBubble. So , mine is Completely my own creation. It doesn't
look at all like Vista any more.Plus they have functionalities that Vista doesn't have.
Here is the direct link to the Theme Manager from Alienware .
Once there , you can also download the customized version of the Windows Media Player. And yes, all for free. But,
only for XP. Here is what mine looks like in XP:

Here are the other Skins for XP only:
The second and fourth are Really Really amazing skins. The media Player to go with these Skins
look like this:

So there you go, a tour of Alienware's offerings. And All for FREE.
You too can have a little ScienceFiction on your Notebook.
