avi to dvd

are there any free software to convert avi files to dvd format so as to play on a standard dvd player or any way to play avi files on a tv? thanks for any help

To burn to DVD you will need a burner that can burn to DVD to play on your home player.

Please note this is that changing copyrighted avis to dvds to dvds is illegal and cannot be discussed on this forum. Flashorn please try to find out intent before giving potentially illegal answers.
