Try using another program. This is a good one: CDBurnerXP Pro.

There must be some settings interfereing.

1. Please post the model of your HP computer. You will find that on a white lable on the bottom of a laptop; or the top or side of a desktop. There are three lines of information. The first line is the general model (ie:m7690y or dv9500t), the second is the Product # which and the third is the Serial Number. NEVER POST THE SERIAL NUMBER ON LINE!

2. Have you attempted to play the CD rather than rip it? If so does it play?

Hi pj and welcome to the forum. You could try another media player such as RealPlayer. If you are getting a message that it is not responding, then that is most likely a problem with the operating system or WMP. If it is only three weeks old, it is most certainly still under warranty. coastie65

I Have a model A6567C, Prod KZ664AA-ABA
When I try to play a cd it will play maybe one song and then stop with the same error message.....HP wants me to reload the restore DVD's, but I don't think that's going to help. I had another HP computer that I returned a before I got this one and had the same problems.

Hi pj, first, as rgreen stated, you should never post the serial number of your computer online. I have edited it and removed it. Now, you said that you previous HP that you returned for the same reason. The hard drives in there are cloned from the same source and if the the original installation was flawed it would carry over to every hard drive that was cloned from that source and I suspect that may be the issue here. If you had a Microsoft Windows Installation disk, you could probably do a repair of the OS from the disk. They don't check every little thing in there in QC, If it boots ok, then it is passed for the most part. The restore disk may or may not work as I don't know the source from which it was made. coastie

I'm not so sure.

PJ what programs have you loaded onto the machine since you got it?

What Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware is on the machine?

Did the speaker system come with the machine?

Will the system play music from a music file? (MP3)
