I purchased EA's C & C Red alert 3 through Game Stop and it will not install. Put the DVD in the driver and it just keeps spinning. Try to use Explore on it and you are hung with an hour glass. If you boot with the DVD in the drive it hangs just before the first WINDOWS XP Professional screen. At EA's advice I reloaded directx, DVD driver, and Video drivers. Still no luck. DVD's do work as well as the last level of the game from EA.

Have you checked the disk for any scratches?

Hi Ken, the reason I was asking is that I recently experienced a similar problem. My games wouldn't load as it didn't seem to read the Disk. After a lot of checking here and there, I realized that the drive wasn't reading CD based media, but had full function with DVD based media. Seeing as how, CD & DVD operate on separate wave lengths, that led me to the conclusion, that the CD portion of the laser had failed and that I would need a new drive which I got. It is working quite nicely again. coastie
