I joined scour.
It's a nice search option-and a tiny way to accumulate a bit of money.

BUT you cannot send sites to friends that they can click on-UNLESS they join scour.

So I thought I'd unsub from scour and just change my start page.

WRONG....

I cannot get scour off of my start page.

Scour does not answer help emails either.

I am wayyyy aggrivated.

Anyone know how to get this off my start page.

It was also NOT in ad remove.

And came with no uninstall.

You just un-join it.

GRRRrrrrrr

I got it off my home page.

But now if I type a partial url in.

Scour takes over and does the search.

So It's like I still have scour as my search engine here.

UNREAL!!!!

:D Hi :

Hopefully this experience will cause you to be more careful BEFORE "installing"

something in the future, and do more "research" . As to your current "situation" :

Some times "programs" are listed in the "All Programs" section of a computer instead

of "Add or Remove Programs" section and the "Uninstaller" is accessed from there !?

Next try is to use the FREE "Revo Uninstaller" from www.revouninstaller.com .

IF neither of these "work", let me know and I will recommend another "Approach" .

Chis Prillo on Lockernome recommened the thing.

And its not a bad search engine.

You just cannot send the searches you find to friends.

Anyway-the program you suggested did not work.

It's weird because scour is not listed anywhere.

I've searched.

Your program searched.

But if I type in a partial url-like just something like "frisbee"

It defaults to scour and pulls up results from scour.

If I type in "www.frisbee" it doesn't default to scour.

But it's still on there or it wouldn't go there at all.

GRrrrrr

Thanks for the try though.

Usefull program there.

:D Hi :

When you "joined" Scour, did you download and/or install anything, like their "Toolbar" !?

I spent some time on their Site and I was "nervous" the whole time, probably because of

my security background . From what I read, I would NOT put anything associated with this

on my computer, regardless what "Chris Prillo" of Lockernome says . Another "Approach"

would be to download a FREE program called "HijackThis" from

www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis . Assuming a successful download and

installation, start the program and click the "Open the Misc Tools section" button; then

click the "Open Uninstall Manager" button . A "List" should appear !? "Copy, then Paste"

that "List" in your next Reply .

No I did not download a toolbar. Ackkk

Just use the url address bar that opens when you open Foxfire or IE.

It's been so long ago that I did this I can't remember if I downloaded anything at all actually.

Posted Image Hi :

Are there multiple Users of this PC ? As expected, neither "Scour" or its current owner,

namely "Centerspan Communications", is in the "Uninstall List" ; however, there is a

very similar program called "WebFerret" listed . Could this be what you are looking for

under a different "Name" !? IF NOT, the next "Approach" would be to do a Windows

"Search", using the Search "term(s)" "Scour" and "Centerspan" and "Delete" any Items

found . IF any "Items" are found and refuse to be "deleted", then use a FREE program

called "Unlocker" . Should also use your Windows "msconfig" utility, going to the

"StartUp" Menu and look to "uncheck" any listing that may be what you are looking .

IF neither of these "work", and since I see Spybot listed, would recommend you ask

their experienced Experts on their FREE Support Forums at http://forums.spybot.info/] .

Is there some "Developer" using this computer ? I ask because there is BOTH

Adobe AIR and Java DB 10.2.2.0 on this computer that should be uninstalled UNLESS

they are being used by such a person .

For sure, should uninstall Adobe Reader, because Researchers found a new hackertoolkit that uses nothing but Adobe securityleaks in order to infect systems. "PDF Xploit Pack" ( [http://www.trustedsource.org/blog/153/Rise-Of-The-PDF-Exploits] )adds all kind of exploits to PDF-files. When a certain exploit has succesfully infected the OS, the IP address is sent to the attackers, so they need to try again. This to reduce the time it takes to manage the bots.

Use of PDF-files is becoming more and more popular among malcreants, this because other toolkits also have PDF exploits now. A year ago only 3% of the exploits were PDF directed.

Would recommend either the SAFER and FREE "Foxit Reader" or "CutePDF" .

Lastly, your Java Runtime program ( "Java™ 6 Update 2" ) is extremely outdated and is

a security risk; use "JavaRa" from [http://raproducts.org] and after it's finished, go to

for the latest ( and secure ) version .

Searched for scour before I asked for help and did not find Centerspan on this last search.

Thanks for all the help.

I will contact the spybot guys and ask them.

Otherwise---it's not a huge proble-just ggrivating.

I'm certain I will do a clean install in the next few months and that should deal with it once and forever.

Should let Lockernome know about their crap program too.

Have a nice Holiday!
