WITCHER FANS, SOMETHING NEW

Hi Aurora, You asked me the other night about availablity on the consoles. It seems as though we have been sandbagged by those folks and they kept it secret. :D I put it up as soon as I read the news letter which had just come in. Now got to wait until Fall of next year. They generally don't release anything until it is ready for for worldwide release ( I noticed in the release of the Enhanced Version, they had a bunch of different language packs and they waited until all were ready).

[quote name='techie4fun']This looks new. Maybe. It should be interesting. I have completed the PC version of "THE WITCHER" and really enjoyed it. mcbarker was playing it as well. There appears to be two more games in the works for the PC as well. Hope they are of the RPG variety and I suspect they will be. The Witcher sold over 800,000 copies, which isn't bad considering no one had heard of the company.

Yeah, I completed it, but trying to decide what to do at times was something. I would get kinda frustrated and save it, then try it different ways to see how each went.. I think you'll like it, although, I've always thought it was more of a guy game because of certain aspects. There are a lot of female players though, as i found out over on their site forum.

When i played it, there were aspects I never touched on. I did do some limited Potion making. I didn't do the mutation thing before battle. In other words, I didn't use a lot of the stuff that was available to me. I know that mcbarker was playing it as well, but haven't heard much from him on it, so I don't know if he still is or not.

Hi Coastie... I gave up on it after trying in vain to install the upgrade. I was a good way into the game, then I had to totally uninstall the whole thing (Witcher support instructions)... then after that didn't work, they wanted me to uninstall (not disable) all antivirus, anti-malware and firewall programs, and any programs which create virtual drives (I use Alcohol 120% which uses virtual drives to circumvent using the game disk). Since after doing all of that, I would also have to access the Internet (totally unprotected) to verify the legality of my copy of The Witcher, my thought was "screw you", so it now sits with a pile of other unused games. Now I'm playing Diablo 2, which isn't nearly as interesting.
I do agree though about The Witcher... when you get it going. it is a really good game... but it can be tough.

Hey mcb, I had completed it, but tried to download the Enhanced version anyway. It didn't work for me either. I ended up buying the thing. The two "ADDITIONAL ADVENTURES", may be short ones, 10 - 15 Hrs. as "The Price of Neutrality" was included in the last patch before the final patch, which I played. I had left a comment on their site about the failure to download the Enhanced Version, but got the same thing you did. One woman in Montreal, said she got it on the first day and ahd no problem with the download and installation. I had started that game over some 4 times, before I bought a decent Video Card. coastie

Witcher fans do not need to rejoice. The Enhanced Version of The Witcher was released for the PC some time ago. It is indeed an awesome game, and I am very impressed with this developer. Unlike many other game developers out there, CD Projekt Red values the PC Gamer first, consoles are not as important. I hate consoles. They are far less versatile than a PC, giving you so much less of a bang for your buck. So what if it's much more difficult to play a PC game in the living room. Most PC gaming rigs (like mine) have large displays and incredible sound systems. Furthermore, you can upgrade them yourself when more demanding games come out, instead of shelling out another half a grand for the next console version.

I have Tomb Raider on a console and downloaded the demo on the PC. It played better on the console as the controls on the PC were a bit awkward. As to how well The Witcher will translate to the console. I guess we'll have to wait til Fall of '09 to find out. In the meantime I am awaitng the next PC release from CD Projekt Red. coastie
