Why press CTRL-ALT-DELETE when all you have to do is right click on system tray and click on Task Manager . I know this works on Windows XP not sure bout Vista .

I just see how much my system will take and install it. No messing around. I have done that with every system I have had, right out of the box. coastie65

Yeah, that looks ok. I am only showing 0% to 2% with a spike now and then to 9%. Click on the processes tab to see what is going on in there as it will you what is using CPU.

I always max out the RAM, I put in as much RAM as the system can handle.

Download Process Explorer from SysInternals (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx). Unzip the zip file, and double click procexp.exe. It will tell you precisely what percentage each process is using. Peruse the web page for more info on the app.

If you are already using the keyboard, you can also use "CtrlShiftEsc".

This has been available since Win2K.

I usually reach across and hit them all with my right hand.

One word: Windows. No, probably all the bloated stuff and extraneous "eye candy" that they put into Vista. It is a resource hog that is why I refuse to use it or even upgrade to it. But, yeah, always have more RAM then you need at least 2 gigs for Vista. Task Manager is a good start but it won't tell you everything. Also if using integrated graphics will use some RAM, but I assume you are using dedicated card.
