Screen to DV?

I think the subject may need more explaining :)


My ultimate goal is to try an every moment of a game. Especially right now, one of my games is being very problematic, appears to be something with it's video, but that's a different story.



So, the solution that seems least taxing on my computer we be to have a screen recording program to record directly to a DV camera, via firewire. I would think that someone has made a program to do that, do you guys know of any?



EDIT: New update: I think I found some utilities that may help; Windows Media Encoder 9, and VH Capture. Now if anyone could help me on them, that would be awesome :)

If you use a screencasting program you can probably take the camera out of the equation.


Here is a list on Wikipedia of the different screencasting software avaliable, you might want to take a look through it and see whats best for you.

Thank you very much for that! It did give a great list of screen recorders, but as far as I could see, none of them could record directly to DV, or even transmit over a LAN. If you have any other ideas for those, or you could help me with Windows Media Encoder, that would be awesome! I guess one question about windows media encoder is, how do I connect to it from a client, once the server is running? Do I need any special software, apart from Windows, installed on the client?

Fraps is probably the best screen recorder for games but its not free and i think the free version only lets you record 30 seconds. It also shows your fps when your in games.

Well, I can get the actualy FPS second in game, anyways. And I think the reason people recommend FRAPS most of the time is only because it puts that watermark in the top middle of ths screen. I'm looking for the lowest impact of performance, and recording straight to a video camera looks like my best bet. I could code I'd make a program right off the bat. But does anyone know of a screen recording program that can go straight to my video camera?
