Hi everyone!
I started my own thread because I felt bad that I/we had hijacked another member's thread.
So, this is in response to Flashorn's request to run the Belarc Advisor and post the results here.
Here are the results:

Now the question remains... is my Compaq Presario laptop upgradable?

Hey sweetie!!
OK, well Belarc has reported what HP has on it's site for your notebook.
Now, on your note book , If you want to, go to start then, programs , then :
HP and from there ,Click on the System Information:

Wait for the info. page to pop-up and once it's up , on the left hand side
choose Memory (Ram) :

On the right hand side you will see what you have installed and what
your notebook can be upgraded to :

Now, post what the report says , so we can see what gives. I can't
believe that you couldn't be able to upgrade to at LEAST 2 Gigs of ram.

Hey sweetie!!
Ok , I was just on the HP site and this time I got the answer I needed.
This is what it says about your notebook in the "Maximum Memory" :
Maximum memory
Supports up to 2 GB DDR2 memory
So, definitely supports UP to 2Gigs . If you can , I would get a 2Gig kit
and shoe horn in the new ram. You would see a marked improvement
in your ability to Photoshop.

Hi Flash,
I tried doing what you suggested here, but I do not have the HP System Information like you show in your post, actually I have nothing on my laptop that 's similar to yours. And, since I was on my Start Menu, I couldn't make a Snip of what's there to show you.
However, I just went into my Computer and clicked on Systems Properties, and this is what I got:

I realize this doesn't tell you what you asked for, but that's the best I can do.

Hi Adama, You can switch to two 1 Gb sticks for 2 GB or possibly to two 2 Gb. sticks for 4 Gb of ram, although being a 32bit OS, it will only use 3 Gb. coastie
Hi Coastie,
Sorry, but I have no idea what you mean by switch to two 1 GB sticks. And, what is "sticks"?

A 2 GiB kit typically consists of two 1 GiB memory modules. In total, they provide 2 GiB of memory.
Most laptops offer fairly easy access to the RAM, since RAM upgrades are very common. It is usually very easy to upgrade RAM. Many people actually perform such an upgrade as the very first thing when they buy a new laptop, since it is sometimes cheaper than ordering the laptop with the amount of RAM they wanted.
Unfortunately, without being familiar with your particular laptop, I can't tell you exactly how to upgrade your machine.

Hi Adama. Laptops normally have 2 slots for mems ...say ..if you want 2GB...you would get a set of 2 sticks..(which 1GB per stick/per slot.)
They work in parallel .

Hi Tech,
I'm glad I started my own thread on this... I'm learning so much from you guys.
So we decided that sticks means = Memory modules.
