h1. Hi Lulu Bell

Since vista is a bigger resource hog than XP i figure you should put in the 2GB of RAM.

Hey sweetie!!

PLZ, don't go to Best Buy for the Ram , Order from Newegg

Cruicial 2Gig DDR2 SO-DIMM (PC2 5300) .

then take it to a Local electronics shop for replacements.

I do not trust them to do anything but sell you stuff that they

can't even explain how to make it work.

HOLY SMOKE, talk about a popular thread :P:P. Damn man. Pcworld's gonna explode.
About your RAM upgrading urges....

If you do choose to do that, be sure to get RAM that's the correct speed. Unlike most pc's, laptops, don't usually like to have Ram that's of different speed then it was designed to have (some OEM motherboard crap, unlike most pc mobos, not the ones you buy at best buy or futureshop though :P)) My old presario needed exactly 333mhz or it wouldn't boot (after "I" ironically upgraded my ram form newegg :P). So, if you're gonna go off looking for an upgrade, I believe that 3.25Gb is the most you can actually use on 32 bit (Pretty sure...) And 'usually' getting two or the same size yields better performance, but I personally would maybe get a 2gb stick, throw it into the slot (providing it's the right type, size, and speed for your lappy's mobo) and sell the old one on ebay. (Hell it might even be worthwhile to get a new one on ebay, since if it's a unique speed that you may need (usually the speed of the ram already in there) then it'll be harder aka. more expensive to come by. So if you are doing the newegg thing, just again, make sure about speed.)

Personally upgrading your CPU would be only moderately difficult (laptops are really just built around the mobo anyways, I've done this plenty without issue), and you can see what your mobo can support by checking HP's website I'm sure. If you wanna find out anything about your motherboard, gpu or cpu, just download CPU-Z and GPU-Z, they're free and really small programs.

Now I have to go type a question :P

Stay Spicy!
