Today's Vista Upgrade E-mail

Why did PC World send out a presentation, I assume is sponsored by Dell?, stating we must upgrade to Vista ASAP basically. I started listening to the lecture and his first comments were stating dealers would stop loading XP on machines by June 30th of this year. First of all, I went through a dealer who sold me the laptop I am typing on this very minute which would come with Vista unless you specifically asked for XP Pro which I did. Then in the lecture, the gentleman said support ends April 14th of next year!
I have known for years now that XP Pro support for Service pack 2 was going to end in the year 2013. Then after the upheival against Vista they said they would produce XP for 2 more years. When Vista started being accepted by the masses, they reduced the XP SP2 support to July 13, 2010. BUT, if you have SP3, you can get support until April 18th, 2014!
My guess, is they think people will just accept what is spoon fed to them and panic and switch over, even if it's by means of coercing, or wrong information. If you do not believe me, go to MS's website and look for yourself. I am planning to build my own PC this next time around to replace my desktop and I am waiting for prices to go down on the specific hardware and software I want and by then it will be the right price and I will be able to move into Vista, unless they come out with something else ot replace it by then-and ONLY if it gets high marks-otherwise I will just load Vista Ultimate on at that time. But I have about 1.5 years to play around and decide what I want to do, and if they do not reduce the 2014 deadline, I have plenty of time to do exactly what I want. At this time to build my dream machine would be about $10,000 so I know it will drop significantly by then!
Just my 2-cents worth :-)
Have a Happy New Year All!
