It sounds like you're trying to give the iPhone a bad rap. Shouldn't buy gadgets that are too complicated for you. Next time stay with what you know. There is nothing wrong with anything having to do with the iPhones. I had a cellphone I bought from Sprint, that was Ok, but I would never go back to it. I've had my iPhone for three years now and I LOVE it! You just have to have the know how to make iPhone work for you.

Thank you very much for this valuable information.I am a Mac user and followed the steps.Except step 9 was a bit different.i could see the 30-second changed file in my iTunes Library under tones, but was absent in my IPhone 4s after synchronizing. So i dragged the file from the folder Tones to the Iphone 4s et voila!!!

I am having the same issue as this user. Using Windows 7, I cannot seem to change the file type of my AAC file.

my computer will not let me change the extention to m4r whats up with that

if you go to your control panel and in the search bar type in folder options click on the show hidden files and folders and where it says hide extensions for known file types UNCHECK it and you will be able to convert! hope this helps!

hi sir
This was a great article! Thanks! One thing, however, you'll need to make sure that iTunes is set to import using the .aac format. Without it, the "create AAC Version" will not be there. I used this tip just about 20 min ago (after changing my import version to .AAC) and it works great ..
u gived detail sir once again thank u sirrrrrrrrrr
