HELP!

So I followed the instructions, and I can see my newly created ringtone in my itunes library, but it will not sync to my iphone. What am I doing wrong?

Help for me too! Ive got the same issue. Dave

I know this Thread is old but I thought I would comment and give you guys some feedback...

1) Yes this works for the Mac too ... however there is no option to "convert to AAC" when you right click the song for the second time....the option is in the toolbar at the top under "advanced".

2) I had a problem with getting it to sync to my iPhone too...what I realised the problem was I didn't have sync ringtones selected. click the iPhone from the left bar on iTunes and there should be tabs at the top e.g. Summary / Info /Apps / Ringtones etc. Click the Ringtone tab and check the Sync Ringtones box.

I did this all today and it still works even on the 3gs iPhone.

Hope that helps

the latest version of itunes for mac doesn't have the convert to AAC option only convert to mp3 is available, i think they removed the convert to AAC because they found out about this ringtone workaround. If anyone knows how to get the convert to AAC back I would Like to know.

thanks r2sail

I followed all of the instructions here... and iTunes even suggests my new ringtone exists when I click the "Ringtones" tab, click the "Synch Ringtones" box, and synch the phone.

Yet? The new ringtone doesn't show up in my iPhone anywhere. Can anyone help me on this??!

The current version of iTunes can still create an AAC version from a MP3 file. You first need to have AAC selected as your default "ripping" format in the Preferences. Then select the non-AAC formatted song(s) that you want to create an AAC version from and then use the Advanced menu and select "Create AAC version...".

Have you ever tried http://mp3m4r.com ? This allows you to convert your mp3 to iPhone ringtone and it's pretty neat.

Awesome article...thank you for this as I once had them but misplaced the instructions. I now have Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo from Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' as a ringtone.

just was wondering how many times you can do this because i tried this once and it worked but the song timing was off so i needed to shave a second off of the begining but when i deleted it and tried doing it again I could not move the file to the outside folder. Is this something you can only do once (meaning you have to do the timing perfectly the first time around)?

is there a way to work around this so that I may correct my mistake and re-do it

This article says all you need to do is manually change the file extension.

There is a free sound editor for Mac or PC called Audacity to trim your songs into perfect length ringtones.

Disclaimer: I don't work for Audacity or get anything from mentioning them. It's a great little free program that I use.

Also note in itunes to change the import settings:

1. goto "Edit"
2. Goto "Preferences"
3. Goto "General" tab
4. Next to "When you insert a CD" is the "Import Settings" button
5. Select "AAC Encoder"
6. Select "High Quality (128kbps"
then click.

Hello

Firstly, this comment and step 8 are vague. I am assuming you mean click on the icon and change the name by typing it in right?

Also, I don't have a "ringtone" tab in itunes! What should I do?

Thanks!!
