Spooler hangs in MS office professional 2003

New laptop with Vista home premium. Installed Office 2003 pro.Everything seemed fine until I tried to print from Word. The little blue circle starts spinning & does not stop. Using the task manager I found that the print spooler was taking up 60% of cpu time. It prints fine using Excell, wordpad or from a web page. This is to a network printer. Checking the print jobs, I found that eventually at some point the Word page printed.

More checking & I found just going into Word, then options, then the print tab would also hang the print spooler. The little blue circle would start up & keep going. This is without any document opened. Just trying to go into the Word print option.

Have you tried reinstalling the printer drivers and software?
