i recently encountered the problem where i am not getting audio or an internet linkup due to the error, in the subject line, which states that there is a dependency service that's not starting. The service seems hung up (not loading). I recently stopped some services with the intention of speeding up the system. The computer also ran overnight before this occurrence. Can I get some assistance if any one has encountered similar woes? I tried system restore to no avail.

blessed love.

I indicated that I had stopped some services in an attemtpt to speed up things a bit. I stopped some tablet pc, internet printing client and indexing services that iI haven't been using. Something may have been dependent on these?

I investigated the link from coaastie65 previously; am not sure whether I want to tinker with the registry in that way. Is there maybe a tool for the registry, where this problem may lie? My system came with vista home premium preinstalled (Gateway laptop).

ok since you are not sure what all services you have disabled , i would like you to open services from vista start menu. Then arrange the services by start type column. Next post the list of disabled services here, so that we may see what wrong service has been disabled. A screenshot will do.

Hi Sylvasirfa. You can do a simple system restore to get all settings and audio driver back to normal.

Start button !http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/QueryWS/GetOpenContent.aspx?assetID=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&DocumentSet=en-US&RenderKey=XML!, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore.‌

Posted Image Hi :

You have NOT mentioned from WHAT SPECIFIC "section" of the computer that you

"stopped" those "Services" !? Hopefully, you did NOT use "msconfig" since "Services"

Guru "Black Viper" aka Charles Sparks recommends using ONLY the "Run" command,

then typing "services.msc" and going through the "List" to "modify" the Default Settings.

From "Services.msc", you can determine the "dependencies" of each of the "Services".

His Recommendations, assuming you have installed Vista Service Pack 1, can be

found at www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm . I did not see Internet

Printing Client in his "List" , but "Print Spooler " should be set to "Automatic" .

A brief Google Search of the Error 1068 seems to mostly, if not always, be related to

Printers, so the "culprit" is most likely the "Internet Printing Client" setting you say you

"stopped" .

Here are the screen shots requested. Hope that they make sense. i'm having a problem pasting more than one image into t his post, so I'll post the other screen shots subsequent to this(a bit tedious yes).

I must indicate here that at one of my attempts to start the SENS(sys. event not. ser.), I also got an "error 1053" indicating that the process was taking longer than normal to start or something approximating that, along with other error notices when try to start required dependency services.
Many of my programs are not starting up even when reinstalled. I did manage to restart the audio service but my antivirus has disappeared.

The services I stopped were done from typing services into the vista start search bar, and from windows programs and features. The system event notification service associated with "error 1068" says its starting but remains that way. I think I may be looking at a windows reinstall. Without a backup drive, I see lost of some files as a prospect.

Based on your screenshots and the blackviper link given by [~9738] , the servies under manual and disabled category seem to fine.
I found several links relevant regarding the Print Spooler service . Open services , go to print spooler service and double click it. Move on to recovery tab and change the settings in the recovery tab of print spooler service. Set all three dropdown options to restart the service.

1!

If the above doesnt work, I would suggest a system restore and see if it corrects the problem.
