There's a lot of songs which iTunes would miss applying an artwork automatically. Besides, I don't like the requirement of having an iTunes Store account in order to use the automatic artwork find function.

I have been desperate to find a normal program which would automatically find and apply all my missing album artworks.

Until then, I use Amazon as a primary source of album images and apply them manually when possible (though it takes time).

You can also search the web for third-party software that does that. If you are on windows, I would recommend CopyTrans' tool as it seems to be free at the moment:

If you are on Mac like me, you can try coverscout which I find best for Lion.

I am from Romania and have been a DJ for little over 5 years now. My advice would be to have an iTunes Store account at to try to get your music as much as possible from the iTunes store in order to minimize the chance of missing album artwork. Of course, not everyone could afford to have all or most their music purchased off the Store (despite the not so high prices per tune). Amazon and albumart.org a both are wonderful sources of artworks if you want to apply song covers manually.
