I'm recording a 45 RPM record to my PC. It comes through distorted. I've recorded other 45s with slight distortion but not nearly as bad. The audio travels from the record player to my PC via USB, and Audacity records. The output from my PC goes to my stereo and ends at the speakers. I can't figure out where all that gain is coming from. How do I prevent the gain or remove the distortion?

Microsoft Windows XP SP3

AMD Athlon processor, 951 MHz

768 MB RAM

USB 1.1

Creative SoundBlaster PCI sound card
