"The Windows 7 beta is actually an upgrade, not a full new install. You need to have a machine running Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) to install the beta."
According to Brandon Leblanc on the Windows 7 Team blog, this is not correct. He stated that you can perform a clean install -OR- upgrade from Vista SP1.

lots of articles posted the same links to download the beta. but once you get there, how do you get it? where's the download link? the only obvious one that i see is the msdn subscriber site, but since most people don't subscribe, they can't download.

Don't waste your money. Buying a $100 program to burn a free beta defeats the purpose of it being free. Use ISO Recorder, K3b or another free program.
