I would say it does make sense.
Since I've gotten my 360 I've seen it go from just a great video game console to an excellent digital marketplace, HD movie and tv rentals, game demos, etc..
And it's still a great video game console as well.
Now my 360 is closer to an all-in-one media device.
It would take a heck of a lot to get me to upgrade.

I remember something once said by the architect of C#, Anders Hejlsberg, that said to the effect that whenever you make a new language, you lose 1000 points, and you have to make up those points before you can even start to persuade people to use it. I think this applies to game consoles too. Microsoft has to have a good reason to upgrade, and I don't think that reason will be around until perhaps 2010 at the earliest, but probably more like 2012, or maybe later.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wii upgraded, perhaps not a new generation, but an evolution, like the DS has been doing.
Since the wii has the most to gain from cheaper processors and components as its already very not-powerful. But then again, the way their selling still years later after release, maybe not.
