This is a great effort by palm. Granted this effort is way late but if we are to complain about stagnant then WM would be gone long time a go. This actually looks like a bigger change than g1 or BB Storm. In S California Sprint has some of the best data so makes sense. We will see sprint rep already wants our company to get some after bad experience with WM 6.1

I agree with users above. Prior to my current iPhone, I owned the Palm Treo 700wx. But it never met my mobile needs except for tethering ability. So no matter how great pre is, I'm only going to appreciate it a distance - as in, my mobile phone ship has done sailed.

I think everyone was quite happy after seeing the palms efforts. The credit also goes to all the top notch palm executive which are from Apple and RIM. But the time will tell whether any of the iPhone upgrades will again take iPhone 5 years ahead or not.

"Until the device is released later this year..."

Therein lies the problem. The smartphone market has become a sprint (no pun intended), rather than a marathon. The the time the Pre is released, where will RIM, Apple, Android and other competitors be with their products?

I see a failure in the making. There is so much aggressive competition out there right now, that announcing a product that won't even be available for a few (or several) months is virtually meaningless in terms of capturing market share.

Just look at all the hype the Blackberry Storm got...and no one's writing about it anymore. Yet the iPhone continues to draw a great deal of (mostly warranted) attention, in large part due to the thousands of applications that one can use.

The Pre? Looks good on paper, but where will the other guys be when this phone is finally released?

My companies Sprint rep makes it sound like this should be out soon. So we will see soon enough. Also the Iphone so far is the ultimate game changer when they offered the technology that no wanted to pay to develop. Apple made the Mobile Phone industry jump. RIM, Google, and Palm are answering. Where is Microsoft, why don't we here about that Windows (Mobile) 7
