So now it's a bad thing for Sony to update their console?
This is a really bad article. Please stop writing anti-Sony/PS3 articles. Did Microsoft pay you to do this? Just because a system is updated does not mean that you have to talk bad about it. My God.. Why don't you talk about Microsoft Windows' updates that don't stop bugging and then when you update you don't exactly know what happened?
Don't hate on Playstation 3 man..

wow the writer must be a pro mac person. you would think that he was talking about an ms product with all that bashing. An company suports what they sell and keep it up to date and cutting edge with software and you don't need to go out and pay for the update

I would have to agree with bjbj!! If a company is releasing updates or patches, whatever you want to call them, then that can only mean one thing! These people are actually doing their jobs! We criticize and give complaints of things we do not like, they do what they are paid to do and fix them as best as they can! I mean, I own two PS3s and I have had to download those updates. But the way I see it is, I would rather take 10 to 15 min downloading and installing those updates than to spend months at a time, miserable having to put up with the same garbage over and over! I say that their updates are fine, and that Playstation 3 is fine, but the people you should truly be doing an article on, would be Slant 6, the people that took over Zipper Interactives place this time in creating the famous Playstation title, SOCOM! This new SOCOM has wonderful graphics, sometimes! But the worse part of it is, the gameplay and over all setup sucks! It looks like they took a bunch of JROTC kids, lined them up and asked them how real war should be! And thats just on the realism and play of the game, the overall quality of the game sucks! When it first came out, it didnt even work! I mean it is an online only game, and you couldnt even play it the first 2 weeks of play! Give me a break! Plus they have came out with countless patches, that maybe fix one thing, but then screw up everything else!!! I DONT GET IT!!! Why fix it, if it aint broke! ANyways..... like I said, Sony Playstation is okay by me! Its Slant 6 yall should be nailing!

i don't see how anyone can criticize sony for all of the great things they have done. for one i think i'd rather have multiple patches than a glitchy system and this is simply common sense. secondly you obviously pointed out that all patches don't apply to each user but sony's determination to deliver a problem free experience to all users should be commended, not criticized. personally i get excited when a system update comes out to see what fixes it includes and what new gadgets it might add. thirdly the ps3 simply does so many more things than the xbox or wii counterparts that hardware updates are almost inevitable and necessary. there's no red light of death on my ps3 and i've yet to have a devastational registry error or lose any data. this said the ps3 is becoming more and more of a family media center in a gaming console, and if sony isn't marketing the playstation network as a source of multimedia entertainment such as movies then call me crazy. maybe all owners didn't buy it for multimedia capabilities and don't care for patches that don't help their games, but when they discover the other exceptionally capable side of the ps3 they will begin to truly unlock its many capabilities.

I have both the Original PS2 and the PS3 80 Gb and enjoy both. The only downside is the developers. Tomb Raider : Underworld is totally screwed. There is a point in Southern Mexico where you have to bring a pedestal up out of the floor and place a skull on it at two locations across from each other. At one location all goes as designed, but there is a glitch that when you go to the other location ( which is actually the frist one you get to), the pedestal is already up with a skull on it and the lever is locked. With out being able to set both calendars, you can't advance any further in the storyline. I have reached this point three different times with the same result. Should have waited for the PS2 version as they probably got it right as they have a lot of practice with the PS2. As long as they don't try to rush out product without thoroughly testing it first, things should be fine. It is obvious this is what happened here. As I said, Iam totally enjoying both, and have totally satisfied with the PS3 and consider it a good deal for all that I got in that thing. coastie65

If Sony was charging for firmware updates... then yes, it would bother me with incremental updates. They are free, so it is not an issue. Also, the updates are optional. If it bothers you to frequently update your system, don't.

I would like them to add AD2P support at some point. The PS3 has bluetooth, it acts as a media center, and the games are in stereo. It seems to be a logical upgrade.
