"my personal opinion is that the government has more pressing issues to attend to than babysitting children online."
It's hardly babysitting to defend a child's right to NOT see the kind of crap being forced down the throats of youth today. In fact, there aren't any issues on the president's desk that are more important than defending the values of families, who are the building blocks of society. Pornography is a cancer that has contributed to the decay of this country and will ultimately lead to it's death if not abated.

Any child that wishes to surf the internet porn-free is quite able to do so. While porn is out there and accessed easily enough... it won't initiate the attack.

Supervising children is the role of the parents, not the government's. Period!
Agreed.
Playing "devil's advocate" here (since I do agree completely with you): Unfortunately, far too many parents are doing a worse job than the government could ever get away with. Should these children suffer due to that incompetence?

It's not the government's job to watch our nation's children. It's the parents' job. We are far too willing to place the responsiblity of limiting what our children see on the TV or the internet into the hands of government. Why? Can't figure out how to restrict access to certain sites? Your kids figuring out ways around it? Too unpleasant for you to say "no" to the kids? I see too much laziness when it comes to monitoring kids' behavior than taking personal responsibility for what you and your offspring contribute to this world. Do you know why pornography will never die? because ALOT of adults pay for it. And, personally, I think in terms of what might be more harmul to kids, watching people in the act of reproduction probably isn't as damaging as watching people get blown up in movies.
Go home, learn to use your computer and your internet-babysitting software, and spend time with your kids so they don't end up being the cancer that is killing society.

Hahahaha yes in 200 years when children are learning history they will hear of Troy which fell to a huge army and a trojan horse, the USSR which crumpled because it lost a war and had most of the world pressuring it, and the United States, which simply could not handle the porn. haha
