Hi All:
I have AVG 8.0 free version and I'm being told by a number of sources that the free version is not fully protecting me. Should I pay for a full version or are there better free
anti-virus software out or a better paid anti-virus software?
Thank you for your help.

AVG antivirus is considered the worse of the 3 FREE antiVIRUS programs, with Avast
( www.avast.com/ ) and Avira/AntiVir being considered superior . Good Introductory
Info on Avast is at [http://www.avast.com/eng/avast4home.html] . Need MORE than an
antiVIRUS program to protect a computer and best to start with antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN
programs. There are 2 FREE and excellent programs, namely the FREE Version of
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware ( [http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php] ) and the FREE Ver
of "SUPERAntiSpyware" ( [http://www.superantispyware.com] ) . There is also a
"Prevent-type" antispyware program, that is FREE, called "SpywareBlaster" from
[http://www.javacoolsoftware.com] . And then need to seriously consider getting a
software firewall, since the Windows "One" is "deficient" .

:D Hi Nikki :
Spybot has not been a top antispyware/antitrojan program for several yrs . Almost all
trained, experienced, certified, Volunteer "Malware Removal Specialists" recommend
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and/or SUPERAntiSpyware . Long ago I tried Spybot and
since I was unable to understand its Scan Results, I chose other programs .
