Seriously? Raise your hand if you don't understand the whole point system of updates. Anyone who expects a significant change from a X.X.n update apparently slept through the last two or three decades.

What the author is trying to say is why only so few and no significant updates. Obviously the version says X.X.n only... which everybody knows. What he meant was why not a version 3? That's why he mentioned that on his conclusion. I guess it would still take a long for iphone users to enjoy true internet and really the good stuff already enjoyed by most smartphones.

It's not just Safari and photo fix it actually improvement that will help the developers to develop more interesting apps.Apple releases new SDK release today old SDK wont be able to develop any apps now. That means we can see NEED FOR SPEED and couple of amazing app a month time now I am sure.
New SDK is going to change the entire game and its going to be fatal blow to its competitors.

F/W 3.0?? By that time, I would have gone on to Nokia E series. I'm sick and tired of waiting for them to upgrade a phone that actually can't forward sms. What on earth is that? What's stopping me now? The darn contract.

Sell your phone on e-bay. You are not smart enough for a smart phone. This phone blows away ANY phone on the market. If you don't like it don't buy it. I can't SNIFF forward SNIFF my SMS SNIFF msgs... WAaaaAAAaaaAAAaaa

The iPhone software will be updated when there are updates to add. For example the push notifications will be added when they are ready! This was not a 3.0 release or even a 2.3 release.

This is not a microsoft product where it gets released before it is done.

"This is not a microsoft product where it gets released before it is done."
If this statement was true, the iPhone3G would still be unreleased. Haha

It is a true statement. I went through MANY supposed smart phones in my IT career. None of them have been as stable as the iPhone. Windows is bad enough on a computer... it is worse on a phone.

Hold on while I reboot my phone!

Such compelling arguments.
A typical fanboi response. Instead of offering up constructive reasoning and arguments, you berate any who would complain.

And BTW, the iPhone is by definition not done, so your analogy holds no merit. Done is done, finished, conplete, as in "Our work is done". Updates to fix minor bugs and tweaks by definition is not "done".

sigh

Typical of a person without a clue to throw out the fanoi argument. That is the lamest thing you can do.

How many phones have you used? I have used 4 different Treo models. several different samsung models.

Your only response is that I am a fanboi because I know for a fact that the iPhone has been the best Cell phone I have ever had. Wow you make a compelling argument.

You are also a troll.

to quote Ron White "You can't fix stupid."

The troll calling the kettle black.
Exactly my point, thank you for pointing it out so well. As you stated, it's the best cell phone you have ever had, so of course that makes you the end all be all of smart phone godliness. And if someone should complain in condradiction to your opinion or disagree with you, well then they're just stupid. God, until now in my life I hadn't seen it so clearly. Thank you for making the world so much more tolerable.

If you had to buy so many smart phones to decide which was best..... Well you quoted him not me.

God is this the quintessential Iphone fanboy comment or what LOL!
I LOVE the iPhone but other than it's 'coat' (ie: it's great screen and interface)....it in no way blows away every other smartphone on the market .
Cause underneath the coat it lacks in significant way to a good number of smartphone out there.
If you have kids, I suppose you think that as long as they have the name brand clothes on that's all they need to blow away all other human brings out there!
NO....and when the Nokia N97 and Palm pre come out......not only will they have the interfacing beauty of the iPhone , but will have the MANY functions that the Iphone have lacked from the getgo.
Contract or not, I'll be moving on soon.....and shame on Job's and Apple, because I really DO like that company, and have loved this device.

You so funny!

The original post is about the fact that this article is complaining because apple did not add new features.

And yes over time I have had many phones... Over time things had improved on the phones but they still suck in comparison.

Oh and I am in no way the end all be all of smart phones... I think it goes without saying that unless you live under a rock you know that Millions of people agree. Just look at the numbers.

Just so you know here are things that need to be improved on with the phone. It in no way removes it from being the best overall smart phone available.

Of course, because we all know it's those millions alone that speak for all. So I guess there is nothing left but to await with much anticipation your soon to be published article detailing how the iPhone magnificently trumps all other smart phones for those millions who prefer it and how the millions who don't are just stupid.

Will there be colorful charts as well?

Well, I guess there's nothing left to say then.

My wife and I both bought our phones on the day it was available, July 11, 2008. I can tell you first hand that from the activation fiasco, through the number of problems all the way to the zero 3G signal reception (which for both of us wasn't fixed until 2.2 release), neither the iPhone, Apple or AT&T wasn't even remotely ready for public release. As for stability, Safari consistently crashes on even mundane news sites to this day. Hopefully the 2.2.1 will address that.

No one disputes the iPhone as one hell of smart and fun phone to have. It was just far from ready to be released, so the "it's not Microsoft" argument is totally lame. Apple gets away with the a hell of lot more screw ups than Microsoft does beacause Apple has fanbois and Microsoft has users, and it's totally hip to own Apple products as opposed to run Vista or own a Zune.

I have 3 Windows Mobile Devices. I have Sprint 700wx with Mobile 5.0, (2) Motorola Qc which I have updated to 6.1 and came with 6. The only rebooting I have every done if when teh phone needed updated software. We have 6 users in our office that have iphones. I have worked on 3 for updates that didn't work properly...we have replaced 2 of them so far. Only 1 person has an ipod now bec thye said they suck too.

Read teh history on all of apple's latest 'i' products and they are riddled with issues. Even MS Zune as cheesy as it is has had less problems. And not all Windows related products have issues. In most cases with PC's its the user who causes many problems for themselves.

I cannot speak for forwarding texts because I seldom text, but I think cut and paste is overrated. There have only been a couple times when I wanted to use it. My phone is very stable and has almost every feature I want - I would like turn by turn navigation but would probably not pay for it and I would like flash. Combine nice features with wonderful usability and tons of great apps, many of them free, and the iphone proves to be a winner for me.
I have been a nokia guy, but I do not see anything that compares to the iphone for my needs.

I am sick and tired of all the Microsoft bashing because it's "fashionable" or "cool" (it's actually just jealousy)! The iPhone may be a nice product, but try to Google "iPhone complaints" - you'll find a TON of them! I have owned two Windows Mobile smartphones (my current one is a Motorola Q9c from Verizon, updated to Windows Mobile 6.1) and, other than the reboot required when updating to 6.1, I have only had to reboot 1 other time. I have used regular cellphones (meaning not smartphones) that have required more reboots due to lock-ups than my Windows Mobile phones have required! Yes, Windows Mobile is not perfect and could use improvements in certain areas (as could the iPhone), but it works exactly as intended - at least for me! If Microsoft sucks so bad, why are they, at least in the PC market, the dominant operating system and office suite?!! I'll tell you why - because Microsoft software worked, and worked BETTER, than competing products from other vendors, INCLUDING Apple!
