i sure hope that this is a rumor. i use skype today, and have skype credits that i personally paid for. i despise google with a passion for many reasons in which i will not get into right and if this rumor becomes true i will make random phone calls to use up my skype credits, un-install skype, and never use it again.
yeah, i can only imagine google owning skype today and making it less private than what it is and actually advertising to the world one's account information. what the heck ever...

I don't even want to think about the privacy issues if google was to buy skype.

I think Google could integrate Skype nicely with it's existing offerings - Google Talk and GMail's Video Chat. Skype seems like the type of company that could be ruined, rather than improved, by Google though.

Maybe Google will get smart and allow Skype for 911 calls. I would get a Skype Wi-Fi phone if it wasn't for the need for a landline due to DSL and it would be able to handle a 911 call.
