It didn't work for me on Windows XP. Is it Vista only or did I do it wrong?

This tip has its limits. I have 24 icons in my Quick Launch toolbar. There are no keyboard shortcuts that I know to launch icons 11-24. I suppose I could assign shortcut keys to the icons but you cannot use the Windows key in those types of shortcuts. BTW, this works for Windows+0 as well as numbers 1-9. Thus the first 10 icons have built-in keyboard shortcuts.

Apologies for not clarifying this. Yep, it's Vista-only.

Good tip.

Note: the quick launch has to be enabled in the task bar, not on the desktop.

I've been using another tip that you can drag the quicktstart folder to the edge of your screen so that it takes up less space on the taskbar, yet you can see lots more icons. For example I've now got my quick launch running up the left side of my monitor, so I can see over 30 icons that I can launch with a single click.

I'm not seeing any way to drag my Quick Launch toolbar to either side of the screen. Are you doing this in XP or Vista?

My keyboard is too old to have a Windows key. It is, however, a Gateway programmable keyboard, so I could easily reprogram the * key, between CTRL and ALT--if only I knew the Windows key's ASCII code. Can anyone tell me?
